AZ Alkmaar striker Vincent Janssen is nearing a long awaited move to White Hart Lane according to reports from ESPN.
Last seasons Eredivisie top scorer with 27 goals, the 22-year-old has been pushing for a move to Spurs over the past few weeks and claimed his current club had denied him a ‘dream move’ having turned down a €16 million bid from the North London club for his services.
It now appears though as if Janssen is set for the exit with Tottenham having met the new £16 million asking price put on the forwards by AZ, with reports suggesting the Dutchman has already travelled to Spurs training ground to discuss personal terms with the club.
Tottenham have been keen on bringing a new striker to White Hart Lane since the beginning of the transfers window as competition for club talisman Harry Kane – who was relied on far too heavily at times last season as the only capable out-and-out striker in Mauricio Pochettino’s squad.
Janssen is certainly that too, and will provide Kane with either a healthy battle or even support up-front next season as Spurs look to once again challenge for the title.
But business is not finished, and the Lilywhites could still use another striker to bolster their attacking options.

Loic Remy
The arrival of Michy Batshuayi at Stamford Bridge has all but signalled the end of Loic Remy’s under-whelming Chelsea career.
The Frenchman has struggled for game time since his move from QPR back in 2014 with both injuries and form keeping him out of the squad for extended periods of time.
12 goals in 47 appearances – mostly from the bench – isn’t a bad return at all and Remy certainly still has the quality to score goals in the Premier League.
Whether or not he would settle for once again being the third choice striker is another thing however.
Antonio Sanabria
A product of Barcelona’s prestigious young academy – La Masia – Sanabria has enjoyed a terrific breakthrough season while on loan at Sporting Gijon from current club Roma scoring 11 goals in 30 appearances for the La Liga side.
A different player to that of Harry Kane, Sanabria spends the majority of his time looking for space in behind the defenders or in-and-around the 18 yard box, sniffing out space should a chance come his way.
A young talent that would provide a useful option for squad rotation.
Saido Berahino
Berahino once had the reputation of marmite, either you loved him or hated him. These days he seems to have drifted from marmite to witchetty grub – where only those blindfolded are silly enough to give him a chance.
Since his very public and altogether embarrassing fall out with current club West Brom, it is fair to say the Englishman’s popularity has gone downhill and taken his form with it too.
A move for the striker could be a huge risk, but underneath that stubborn demeanour is a very talented forward, and if Mauricio Pochettino can get him to compete for a starting place – it could bring back out the best of the 22-yer-old.
