After the disappointment of losing the Premier League crown to Leicester City last season, you really do get the feeling Spurs have a point to prove this time out – and their fans in the Transfer Tavern don’t half agree.
The Foxes waltzed to the crown and Spurs were even beaten into second by bitter rivals Arsenal and it was a season of real disappointment for Pochettino’s men, despite having all the makings of something that could have been so much better.
They’ve had a decent start this campaign but will have to rely on the entirety of their squad if they’re to do well, as many have predicted, it’s going to be a tough league this year.
With that in mind, we want to take a look into the Spurs academy and see if we can pick out the next waves of breakthrough stars.
So here’s THREE Spurs wonderkids you must sign on Football Manager 17…..
Josh Onomah
Arguably the most senior player on this list, 19-year-old midfielder Josh Onomah does have Premier League experience with Spurs, having featured twice in the league already this season.
He’s very much a fringe player right now but many Spurs fans are excited about him for the future.
He came through the Spurs academy and is a real local lad – born in Enfield.
He’s the sort of youngster supporters love and if he can let his football do the talking, he can go very far indeed.
A more attacking-minded midfielder, Onomah might need a loan move come January if he’s not getting enough first-team minutes but he has all the qualities needed to make it at the top.
Nathan Oduwa
A pacy winger who is currently with Peterborough United on a loan deal, the future looks extremely bright indeed for Nathan Oduwa.
He’s fast, direct and extremely skillful and his usefulness is enhanced in the fact that he can play down either flank as comfortably as the other.
The 20-year-old had a particularly good spell with Rangers back at the start of the 2015/2016 and it’s here we saw his sparkling potential regularly for the first time.
He’s a bit of a showboater too- he’s become slightly famous for a rainbow flick he attempted whilst playing for Gers which was branded “disrespectful” by some supporters- think of it what you like but he has a serious air of confidence.
Cameron Carter-Vickers
18-year-old centre-back Cameron Carter-Vickers has been tipped as the next Ledley King and it’s easy to see why he’s drawn so many comparisons.
But he has a long way to go. King was arguably the best ever centre-back to have played at White Hart Lane and Carter-Vickers has a long way to go but the early signs look promising.
He’s already featured for the American U23 international side and he made two starts against Juventus and Atletico Madrid in Spurs’ 2016 International Champions Cup tournament in Melbourne.
Will find it tough to dislodge Vertonghen and Alderweireld but time is on his side.
