The Hammers moved to the London Stadium over the summer, and it was expected to really push the side on.
A few of the more optimistic Hammers fans in the Transfer Tavern were expecting their side to immediately push up the table and start spending money on big European stars – but in truth, the exact opposite has happened.
Bilic wasn’t able to attract anyone worthwhile in the summer, and their stadium move has brought nothing but bad news. Poor results, off the field incidents and general discontent around the London Stadium has seen West Ham drop down the table – with a relegation fight seemingly on the cards for the London side.
The January transfer window represents Bilic’s only real chance to improve his dissapointing side, and our landlord thinks that a few more strikers are on the menu.
With that said, here are 3 attacking transfers West Ham should look to tie up in the first week of January…
Callum Wilson
One attacking option that West Ham have reportedly been targeting is impressive forward Callum Wilson.
The Englishman has been in fine form this season, with Bournemouth flying high in the Premier League.
Any move for the talented attacker would undoubtedly be a difficult one, but what an option he would be for Bilic.
Offering pace, dynamism and, most importantly, goals – he would be a star at the London Stadium.
Carlos Bacca
Carlos Bacca has long been lined up for a move to West Ham by the punters in the Transfer Tavern, and it is easy to see why.
He has scored 6 goals in just 11 Serie A appearances this season, and with the campaign not even close to over – our landlord is expecting many more – unless he makes the jump to the Premier League.
A typical poacher, Bacca’s conversion rate and his pace are 2 of his most important attributes – and he would be a really good alternative to a player like Carroll.
Daniel Sturridge
Daniel Sturridge would, undoubtedly, be an optimistic target – but with the English forward struggling at Liverpool, could it actually happen?
Klopp doesn’t seem to fancy the injury prone forward, but there is no doubting how impressive his goalscoring record is. At points over the last few years he has been simply unstoppable – and he would thrive at being the main man at the London Stadium.
The main issue here is that Sturridge, much like Andy Carroll, is injury-prone, so he might not solve many issues for Bilic. If he can be kept fit, though, what a signing he would be.
