Our Tottenham fans here in the Transfer Tavern can’t wait to see their side in action again this week with the title race looking that little bit more interesting now.

Going into this weekend just gone many thought that is was going to be business as usual at the top with the likes of Spurs winning but Chelsea also emerging victorious to maintain their big gap at the top of the league.

Instead, though, whilst Spurs won, the Blues slipped up at home to Crystal Palace to leave the gap at seven points in the league.

Tottenham, then, are the chief challengers for the title if Chelsea are to throw it away and our landlord reckons they’ll be looking to put a statement out against Swansea this week.

So, with that in mind, here’s the XI he thinks is going to get the job done…

GK: Hugo Lloris

If he’s fit, he starts – it’s as simple as that for the French international and Spurs.

RB: Kyle Walker

Walker didn’t start the game against Burnley but our landlord reckons he’ll be back in the fold for this one. He’ll be key in helping Spurs break the Swans down.

CB: Toby Alderweireld

Like Lloris, Alderweireld will always start if he is fit. One of the best defenders in the league, he’ll need to keep things tight to avoid any shocks.

CB: Jan Vertonghen

Alongside Alderweireld, Vertonghen has just as an important job to do in keeping things tight. Spurs need to be wary of a Swansea side fighting for their lives.

LB: Ben Davies

Danny Rose still isn’t fit and so Davies will continue against his former side. He won’t want them to go down but he’ll want a win here more.

CDM: Moussa Dembele

The powerful Belgian came on in the game against Burnley and with Harry Winks now injured he’s even more likely to play in this one.

CDM: Eric Dier

Dier’s been slated this season but he was a lot better at the weekend. He scored a goal and kept things tight at the back but we think he’ll be in midfield next time out.

RAM: Heung-Min Son

Son came on and sealed things at the weekend so we’d expect him to be given the nod here. He seems to step up without Harry Kane on the scene and that can only be welcome.

CAM: Dele Alli

Alli is another who takes the reigns when Kane is missing and will be keen to get more goals to his name before the main man returns.

LAM: Christian Eriksen

Swansea are surely set to try and sit in and break out against Spurs so the likes of Eriksen need to be at their masterful best.

ST: Vincent Janssen

He’ll play, we think, but whether he scores or not is hugely up for debate. It’s not worked for the Dutchman and he needs to start thinking about bucking his ideas up.
