There’s a huge game on the horizon this weekend and it’s got our Spurs and Arsenal fans here in the Tavern on edge, it’s the North London Derby!

In a game that means so much to both sets of supporters, only a win for both will do and it’s the significance on the league table that will give this game even more bite going forward.

Spurs are chasing Chelsea at the top of the Premier League and need the points to remain in touching distance whilst Arsenal are desperately trying to remain in the mix for the Champions League places, with a win this weekend vital if they are to keep pace.

But there’s some doubt creeping in amongst our Arsenal supporters here in the pub that are beginning to think that this might not be their weekend against a Spurs team that has been flying in recent weeks.

Indeed, our Spurs-mad punters are confident it will be a home win at White Hart Lane this weekend and here’s the XI he thinks will do the job against the Gunners…

GK: Hugo Lloris

He’s the number one between the sticks at White Hart Lane and that certainly isn’t going to change anytime soon.

Hugo Lloris has a big role to play in the game this weekend and will be hoping to be at his best to keep Arsenal quiet on Sunday afternoon.

RB: Kieran Trippier

Kieran Trippier has been in sublime form for Spurs in recent weeks and he’s still managing to keep Kyle Walker out of the first-team squad which is a real testament to the quality he’s been showing.

Another strong result in the North London Derby would only further his popularity amongst supporters here in the pub.

CB: Jan Vertonghen

Jan Vertonghen has become Spurs’ Mr. Reliable in at centre-back over the past couple of years and he’s a player that never seems to let the side down.

Consistent, strong and comfortable with the ball, if the Belgian has a good game then the Arsenal forwards might be left very frustrated indeed.

CB: Toby Alderweireld

Toby Alderweireld is another Spurs man that has had another strong season in North London and he’ll be hoping to turn in another strong performance to keep his side in touching distance of Chelsea for the final couple of games of the season.

Alderweireld looks seriously comfortable alongside Vertonghen in defence and the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will have to really be at their best to break through.

LB: Ben Davies

With Danny Rose out injured, Ben Davies has slotted in at left-back recently and we’re expecting the Wales international to remain there for the forseeable future.

He’s comfortable in at full-back but will have his work cut out against the impressive-looking Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who played superbly well against Manchester City last weekend.

CDM: Mousa Dembele

Slowly but surely, fans are beginning to realise how big Moussa Dembele is in this Spurs side and he’s a player that only seems to be improving on the pitch.

Comfortable with the ball, he’s the man that holds the whole side together. A real fans favourite here in the pub too.

CDM: Victor Wanyama

Everyone’s favourite spaghetti eating midfielder, Victor Wanyama has added some much-needed steel to this Spurs midfield and he’ll be looking to break up the play in the Gunners’ side this weekend.

Getting amongst the temperamental Granit Xhaka will be high-up in his priorities, with the Gunners man well known for losing control.

RAM: Son Heung-Min

Son Heung-Min has had a strong season and might’ve scored more goals if he’d have hit the target more accurately last weekend.

The South Korean has had one of his best campaigns to date and looks a big part of Pochettino’s plans going forward. A big occasion for him this weekend.

CAM: Christian Eriksen

If there’s one man that can unlock this Arsenal defence it’s Danish play-maker Christian Eriksen, who has been fantastic this campaign.

He’s a player that has the quality to get past any player at any level it’s Eriksen, who will be hopeful of a good performance against Spurs’ bitter rivals.

LAM: Dele Alli

Dele Alli will be seriously keen to improve his ongoing reputation down at White Hart Lane and he’ll want to continue to shine as the season comes to an end.

The Englishman has been superb for months now and he’ll be really keen to give Arsenal a hard time this weekend.

ST: Harry Kane

Tottenham forward Harry Kane has been in tip-top form all season and there’s plenty of players that have tried to stop him this year and failed.

The Spurs faithful here in the bar are hopeful of Kane having an absolute blinder this weekend as Spurs look to pile the pressure on Arsenal and Arsene Wenger.
