Our Tottenham fans here in the Transfer Tavern are looking for their side to start reeling in Chelsea and that all starts with a massive game at Anfield.

Looking at the league table at the moment you get the feeling it’s going to take quite a lot for the Blues to be caught but it looks like if there is any side that can do it right now it’s Tottenham.

Whilst Arsenal have fallen by the wayside and both Manchester clubs look to have too much to do, Spurs are still churning out results which is more than can be said for this weekend’s opponents – Liverpool.

The Reds have had a torrid 2017 up until now and look a shadow of the side in the first half of the season with their title hopes in tatters.

Spurs need to win this one to keep their slight ones alive, though, and our landlord thinks this line-up will do that as well as kicking the Reds into touch…

GK: Hugo Lloris

Lloris is arguably the best stopper in the division and that means Spurs will always have a chance. He’ll need to be on it against the unpredictable Reds, though.

RB: Kyle Walker

Liverpool are one of the narrowest sides in the league and so if Walker can get out wide and get forward he could seriously influence the result.

CB: Toby Alderweireld

Alderweireld is one of the best defenders around and a clean sheet here would surely springboard Spurs onto a win at Anfield.

CB: Eric Dier

With Jan Vertonghen out still, Eric Dier is going to play here. He’s done well at centre-half this season and could be playing here more with Victor Wanyama around.

LB: Ben Davies

The fitness of Danny Rose is unlikely to be good enough for this one so Ben Davies will continue at left back. He, like Walker, will need to get forward as much as possible.

CDM: Victor Wanyama

A lot has been made of N’Golo Kante being the signing of the season but Wanyama deserves a mention. He’s settled in seamlessly at the Lane.

CDM: Mousa Dembele

Dembele is an absolute monster and with Liverpool’s midfield looking fragile he could have a field-day. Emre Can had better watch out if he plays.

CAM: Dele Alli

Alli will want to prove a point to the Anfield crowd with his hero being Steven Gerrard. Score here and the Reds will wonder just why they didn’t sign him.

RAM: Heung-Min Son

Heung-Min Son has the ability to cause James Milner havoc or give him an easy day. It really remains to be seen which one turns up.

LAM: Christian Eriksen

If Eriksen can find some space in front of a fragile Reds back four then there’s every chance Spurs could waltz to victory. The former Ajax man has incredible talent in those spaces.

ST: Harry Kane

Kane will be looking at Liverpool’s back-four and be ready to get at them from the get-go. One mistake from the Reds could allow him to kill the game as a contest.
