Tottenham have had a steady start to the season as they look to improve on last year’s third place finish.
The local Spurs punters are remaining hopeful they can challenge for the title, as they did last year and with an
unbeaten start to the Premier League, it’s certainly feasible.
What could ruin their plans though is there participation in the Champions League.
The Lilywhites opened their campaign at home to Monaco and despite being expected to win, lost 2-1.
It was a real eye-opener for Mauricio Pochettino’s men to the trials of European football and it remains to be seen how they perform in the league with this added commitment.
If they do struggle, Pochettino may be tempted to dip into the January transfer market.
Spurs were fairly quiet in the Summer but our landlord thinks they might have to add some depth when the window reopens.
This in mind then, here are FOUR players Spurs can’t afford to miss out on….
Isco
The Spaniard is never going to get a proper run in the Real Madrid side when everyone is fit and so Spurs should really try and get him in.
He could be world class but he’s arguably wasting his career.
If Spurs are still in Europe in January they could be an attractive proposition for him and that would boost Tottenham a great deal.
Arda Turan
The Turkey international played a few games for Barcelona at the start of this season but with the return of Neymar from the Olympics he has found himself back on the bench.
When he plays you can see his talent has not gone though, and so if Tottenham were to sign him they’d be getting a player who’d instantly make a positive impact on the team.
Lorenzo Insigne
Spurs signed Georges-Kevin N’Koudou as a fast option to play out wide but so far he hasn’t featured.
If the club really want to introduce pace to the team they need a guaranteed starter and Insigne would do that.
He’s got Champions League and big international experience and so would be the ideal go-to man to give Spurs a different dynamic up front.
Milan Badelj
Spurs don’t really have a player that can control a game from deep in midfield.
Mousa Dembele is class but is more of a engine room type player than metronome whilst Eric Dier is more suited to breaking up play.
Moussa Sissoko and Victor Wanyama are both not the kind of players to dictate a game’s tempo too so Spurs should be looking at someone like Badelj, who does this job with Luka Modric for Croatia brilliantly.
