5 creative midfielders that Wenger should sign to make Arsenal a force in the PL

Share

It’s done! Arsenal have finally confirmed the signing of Granit Xhaka from Borussia Monchengladbach.

The 23-year-old captained the German side to 4th place in the Bundesliga and has earned himself a move to the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal finished the 2015/16 campaign in second place after rivals Tottenham slipped up on the final day.

This was meant to be the season that Arsenal regained their crown and became champions but the Gunners fell short after a series of terrible displays.

A second place finish was deemed not good enough by plenty of the Arsenal fans, and they want more in what looks to be Arsene Wenger’s last season at the helm in North London.

We at the Tavern have looked at FIVE midfielders that could really change Arsenal and help transform the side into title challengers and not title-bottlers.

If Wenger opens his wallet and adds to the signing of Granit Xhaka, next season really could be an interesting one for Arsenal fans…

Mario Gotze

Mario Gotze, at just 23- years-old had lived the life that everybody dreams about.

The youngster has won the Bundesliga title in 5 of his 6 seasons as a professional footballer, and scored the winning goal in the World Cup Final for Germany in 2014, putting his name in the history books for all time.

The classy playmaker has found it difficult to break into the Bayern Munich side this season and could look for away out of the Allianz Arena.

Isco

Another player who has struggled to break into the first team at his respective club this season is Isco.

The Spanish midfielder is competing with the likes of Luka Modric and Toni Kroos for a place in the line up at Real Madrid, which is a tough task but the 24-year-old is far too good to be sitting on the bench.

Isco could be the key to solving Arsenal’s injury crisis and lack of strength going forward.

The landlord at the Tavern thinks this would be an incredible signing for Arsenal, but can’t see it actually happening unfortunately.

James Rodriguez

James could be the solution to almost everything for Arsenal.

The Gunners definitely need a striker but James could play in any position in the midfield, including the wings and attacking midfield.

James provides plenty of goals and assists and the 2014 World Cup Golden Boot winner is as skilful as anyone on the planet.

The Madridsta at the Tavern thinks James is the best possible option for Arsenal but yet again, can’t see Arsene Wenger making an offer for the Colombian.

Marco Veratti

Marco Verratti

Veratti has been a real dominant force for PSG this season.

The 23- year-old has a knack for providing a ton of assists but isn’t the long range goal-scoring machine that the Arsenal fans are begging for.

That said, the Italian is more than capable of a goal or two and has plenty of years ahead of him to improve on his style of play.

N’Golo Kante

Last but not least, N’Golo Kante.

The French midfielder is known for his incredible ability to win back the ball and start counter attacks and therefore, he is an ideal man for Arsenal.

Wenger’s men often lack passion and heart in their play and Kante has made more interceptions than any player in Europe’s top leagues this season.

Leicester certainly would not have won the title without Kante playing in the centre of the park.

The old man at the pool table thinks Kante is the best in the business, and it is hard to disagree considering the 25-year-old’s remarkable season, where he was named in France’s EURO 2016 squad.
