Tottenham fans inside the Football Transfer Tavern have been feeling pretty content over recent weeks.
A heavy home defeat to Manchester City and a painful FA cup defeat to North London rivals Arsenal aside, Tim Sherwood has quietly gone about restoring Tottenham as a genuine top four challenger.
A powerful midweek win over Newcastle at St. James’ Park kept Spurs just three points off Liverpool in fourth place, and despite what has been considered something of a turbulent season – just seven points off league leaders Chelsea.
It took a while for Tottenham to get going this season, with nine summer signings taking a fair share of time to adapt.
It could be argued only Christian Eriksen and Vlad Chiriches could be considered close to a success so far, with their turnaround in fortunes mainly attributed to returning striker Emmanuel Adebayor.
