Our resident Man United fans enjoying a beer and burger here in the Transfer Tavern are excited about the upcoming summer transfer window.
According to Swedish reports, Manchester United are set to sign Victor Lindelof from Benfica this summer transfer window.
Quoting Swedish media outlet Aftonbladet, the Red Devils have reportedly submitted a transfer offer for the defender as the club look to improve their current defensive options.
For large parts of the season the centre half pairing at Old Trafford has been Daley Blind and Chris Smalling.
Smalling has improved a great deal this year and deserves the plaudits he has been getting, and whilst Blind has also done a decent enough job, he isn’t an out and out centre half.
Lindelof would obviously help strengthen the team in this area but there are plenty of other places in the squad that need improving, highlighted by the pretty insipid football offered up by the side that has seen them miss out on the top 4.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
One of the best strikers in the world this season, the Gabon forward has amassed 39 goals in 48 appearances for Dortmund in all competitions this year.
Lightning quick and dead-eye finishing make him one of the most lethal around, and there’s a first choice striker position currently going begging at Old Trafford.
He’d be expensive but United are one of the few that could afford him.
Danny Drinkwater
The former United youth player has worked his way back to the top and is now a Premier League champion. Drinkwater’s story – like many of the Foxes players – is nothing short of inspiring, and to cap it off he looks set to represent England at this Summer’s EURO 2016 championships in France.
The midfielder has all the tools to dictate a Premier League game’s tempo and would be the perfect replacement for Michael Carrick.
James Rodriguez
The Colombian superstar has been frustrated at Real Madrid this season, inevitably leading to queries over his future.
The South American’s talent cannot be denied given his fine performances at the 2014 World Cup, and once back to getting regular first team football he’ll begin to replicate that form.
Rodriguez is a class act and United would be a different proposition with him in the side.
Neymar
Neymar was flying at the start of La Liga but seemed to tail off towards the end of the season for Barcelona.
The Brazilian is one of the top five players in the world and the move to United rumours refuse to go away.
He’d be the world class attacker United badly need and would surely turn them into title challengers once more, something the fans have been waiting for since Sir Alex Ferguson retired.
Kostas Manolas
Manolas is a highly rated centre half for AS Roma and has been a practically permanent fixture for the Serie A side.
23 international appearances for Greece show he is already adept at playing at the highest level and if United want to strengthen their defence, Manolas should be near the top of their shopping list.
Set for Champions League football with the Italians next season but a move to Old Trafford could be too good to turn down.
