Tottenham fought back valiantly against ten-man Arsenal today to avoid defeat and whilst they couldn’t pick up a victory that would have put them six points ahead of their north London rivals, they’re on course to end a long wait for a Premier League crown.
Currently trailing Leicester City, who are two points ahead but yet to play this afternoon, Tottenham will surely have to be considered title favourites and our landlord believes that Mauricio Pochettino will lead Tottenham to glory.
Having not won the league in 64 years, Tottenham are on course to make history and, despite a midweek slip against West Ham, the lilywhites will be confident of ending that long wait- and our punters have identified five reasons why they think Spurs will win the title this year.

Form
Whilst they failed to secure a win in both of their Premier League fixtures this week, losing against West Ham and missing the chance to go top of the table as a result, overall Tottenham have been flying for the past few months.
With only Leicester and Chelsea having a better run of rom in the past six games, Tottenham have taken 13 from a possible and look formidable. Although one of the side’s ahead of them is a direct rival, Spurs will have faith that they can continue their run.
Fixtures schedule
The fact that Spurs have European football still to play, where Leicester City don’t, is seen as decisive- but Spurs’ fixtures between now and the finale in May are very favourable, putting them in a strong position to win the title.
Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea still need to be played but Spurs should comfortable beat Aston Villa, see off Bournemouth and overcome the links of Newcastle United and West Brom.
Leicester, on the other hand, have difficult games against relegation threatened sides and see their season come to a close with matches against Manchester United, Everton and Chelsea- with only the game against the Toffees being at home.
Squad depth
A lot has been said about Leicester City’s star players like Riyad Mahrez, Jamie Vardy and N’Golo Kante but Tottenham’s squad is better. Should one of their key players pick up an injury, Pochettino has the men available to come in immediately.
Son Heung-Min, Moussa Dembele, Kevin Wimmer, Kieran Trippier and Ryan Mason are amongst those that aren’t regular starters, with gives Spurs plenty of rotation options and candidates to come off the bench in times of need.
Lack of real rivals
Leicester City are still expected to slip-up and whilst they’ve managed to go the whole season without doing so, they’re still fancied to drop points. Tottenham are essentially in a head-to-head chase with Leicester for the title, which is beneficial.
Arsenal’s awful run of form has left them on the brink of conceding their spot in the title race, whilst Manchester City are also quite a way off. Manchester United are full of form but are a way behind, so it seems any revival from the side’s below them will come too late.
Star players
Arsenal, Manchester City and Leicester all have about three or four star players. Tottenham Hotspur, however, can identify the majority of their team as stars- with Hugo Lloris, Toby Alderweireld, Dele Alli, Harry Kane and Erik Lamela amongst the crucial players.
Add the likes of Jan Vertonghen, Kyle Walker and Eric Dier and it’s very promising for Spurs- so much so that you wouldn’t bet against them!
