Tottenham’s impressive charge towards the top four continued this weekend with a comfortable 3-0 win away at West Bromwich Albion with Christian Eriksen and Harry Kane the stars of the show once again.
In a week which saw Mauricio Pochettino’s side book a place at Wembley for the Capital One Cup Final courtesy of two fine Eriksen goals at Sheffield United, Tottenham supporters have been enjoying their weekend more than most.
The race for the top four looks set to be perhaps the closest the Premier League has ever seen with Manchester United, Southampton, Arsenal, Tottenham and an improving Liverpool all fighting for those third and fourth positions.
Pochettino knows the chance to qualify for Europe’s elite competition will provide funds to attract players in the class of Eriksen and Kane – possibly in place of these five current Tottenham stars.

Mousa Dembele
The Belgian has struggled to find any sort of consistent form at Tottenham for some time now. After a positive start to life at the club following his switch from Fulham, it appears Dembele has been getting progressively worse.
Youngsters Ryan Mason and Nabil Bentaleb have moved ahead of him in the pecking order and it is no secret Pochettino wants to add another central midfielder with Southampton’s Morgan Schneiderlin still a top target.
Etienne Capoue
The Frenchman is another who has struggled to make any sort of impact since completing a £9 million move from Toulouse to White Hart Lane in the summer of 2013.
His performances last term were so poor in fact that he was being linked with a move to Napoli after less than six months at the club. He has been tried as a centre back on the odd occasion also – where impossibly, he has looked even worse.
Emmanuel Adebayor
After such a superb second half of last season, Emmanuel Adebayor has pulled his usual stunt of going completely off the boil – and this time he has managed to turn the Tottenham fans against him in the process.
His public criticism of the fans earlier in the season as well as his poor form means there is surely no way back for him at the club.
This is unless he goes on a similar run to last season which would mean forcing Harry Kane out of the first team picture which won’t be happening anytime soon.
Benoit Assou-Ekotto
The Cameroonian left back is one of the longest serving players at Tottenham having been on the books since 2006. Yet he hasn’t featured this season since his return from a loan spell at QPR with Danny Rose and summer signing Ben Davies ahead of him in the pecking order.
It seems strange that nobody has come calling for the experienced defender who was once a fans favourite at White Hart Lane. Injuries have played their part however and Tottenham are keen to get his wage bill off of their books.
Aaron Lennon
Another long serving star whose days seem to be numbered is winger Aaron Lennon. Injuries seem to have taken their toll on the winger and Mauricio Pochettino has hardly called on him this term.
Spurs are reportedly interested in signing Kevin Mirallas from Everton and are said to be willing to offer Lennon in part exchange in order to seal the deal. A change of scene may be just what the former England man needs to get his career back on track.
