5 West Ham United transfer rumours that could seriously happen this window

Our Hammers fans in the Transfer Tavern can’t wait to see who’s in claret and blue for the beginning of next season.

Slaven Bilic’s men were one of the many impressive stories of the season as they secured seventh place – and Europa League football, as well as unearthing one of the players of the season in Dmitri Payet.

Payet’s performances this year left many scratching their heads as to why no-one had signed him before the east Londoners and it’s left the Hammers faithful with a sense of what could follow in this window.

If Bilic and the club get their recruitment spot on again there’s no knowing where the team could end up, especially with the Olympic Stadium ready to open it’s doors to Premier League football for the first time in August.

The club are on an upward trajectory it seems and with all the rumours flying about concerning who may be on their way to the club, there’s sure to be no shortage of excitement among the fan base.

Here at the Transfer Tavern our landlord thinks it’ll be a busy Summer too, so here are FIVE touted rumours that might just get the green light.

Carlos Bacca

The Week thinks a deal for Bacca could be on.

The Milan striker had a good campaign in Serie A this year but could be getting slightly disillusioned by what’s happening at the great club.

Milan are a long, long way from where they once were and as Bacca only has a few years left at the top this could be his last chance to try and win something elsewhere.

He’s a good player and West Ham’s striking options would be far improved with him in the team.

Atiba Hutchinson

Talksport have reported an interview where Hutchinson’s agent said that talks between the club and the player are going well.

Hutchinson played under Bilic at Besiktas before the Croatian signed for the Hammers and would add some vital European experience to the team’s midfield, as they look to embark on a Europa League campaign for 2016/17.

Samuel Umtiti

Lyon defender Umtiti is a real power house at the back and would be well suited to Premier League football. Squawka report that the Hammers are the favourites in the chase for the young Frenchman ,and at the age of 22 he could form the base for West Ham’s defence theoretically for the next ten years if he joins the club.

Umtiti can play as a centre back or a left back and would again add important European experience.

Alexandre Lacazette

This would be a real statement of intent from the club.

A £31 million bid for the Lyon forward has already been rejected by the French side but with West Ham’s obvious interest, and the new revenue from the Olympic Stadium and TV rights packages expect an improved bid.

Lacazette’s one of the best forwards in Europe and it’s anyone’s guess as to how he’s been overlooked for France’s EURO 2016 squad.

Wilfried Bony

Bony has had a really tough time at Manchester City but his talent can’t be called into question – he just needs game time.

In his time at Swansea the Ivorian highlighted what he could do, bullying defenders with his power and racking up a substantial amount of goals.

Would likely jump at the chance to join West Ham as the Mirror have noted and show City and the rest of his critics he can still perform at this level.
