The next six days of the transfer window are set to be busy for Louis van Gaal and Manchester United.
The Red Devils have spent over £200million since the Dutchman took charge little over 12 months ago, but still the club are in desperate need of another striker and another centre back.
Wayne Rooney has been leading the line on his own following the summer departures of Radamel Falcao and Robin van Persie, whilst Daley Blind has been forced to fill in at centre back during the opening weeks of the season, albeit to excellent effect.
Van Gaal and chief executive Ed Woodward are under pressure to deliver some more big names before the window slams shut on September 1.
The pair would do well to have a look at this list of the five worst United signings of the past 10 years, and be sure to avoid making similar clangers in the transfer market over the next six days.

Anderson
The Brazilian signed from Porto in the summer of 2007 for almost £20million, with Manchester United confident they had finally replaced legendary captain Roy Keane.
However, Anderson was nowhere near in the same league as Keane, and although he won plenty during his career at Old Trafford, he didn’t contribute anywhere near as much as those at the club had predicted or hoped.
It took a long old time for the club to eventually get him and his excessive wages off the books as well, with van Gaal only managing to flog him back to Brazil this year.
Gabriel Obertan
It remains a mystery as to who exactly sanctioned the signing of Gabriel Obertan at Old Trafford.
The French winger must have been signed after a scouting report that consisted of watching him do stepovers on YouTube!
Obertan could manage a stepover alright; just nothing else!
He looked lightweight, out of his depth, and produced no end product.
He was sold to Newcastle United after just 14 league appearances in 2011 – where he has continued to make little to no impression. He can still managed the occasional stepover though.
Bebe
Sir Alex Ferguson paid £8million to sign Portuguese forward Bebe, despite rumours he had never actually seen him play.
Maybe that went some way as to explaining why Bebe was never given a chance at Old Trafford.
In four years at Old Trafford he managed just two Premier League appearances, and three loan spells, before eventually moving to Benfica in 2014.
A complete waste of time and money.
Radamel Falcao
Manchester United may not have had to pay a transfer fee when they took Radamel Falcao on a season long loan from Monaco last summer, but his reported wages of £200k a week were certainly not cheap.
Falcao arrived with a reputation as one of the best strikers in Europe, but he spent last season struggling to make any sort of impact in Premier League football.
He left the club with just four goals to his name, and plenty of cash in his back pocket.
Angel Di Maria
The most expensive signing made by any Premier League club ever turned out to be a candidate for the biggest waste of money by any Premier League club – ever.
Di Maria arrived last summer for a massive £59million, and despite a promising start, the Argentine never looked suited to life in English football.
He was linked with a move to PSG just weeks after arriving at Old Trafford, and was clearly agitating for a move during the entire second half of last season.
He eventually got his wish this summer, with United selling him for a loss of almost £15million.
