The Manchester City fans in the Transfer Tavern are fuming today as they’ve been reading the news that Leroy Sane has been left out of Germany’s World Cup squad travelling to Russia, despite winning the Young Player of the Year award, scoring 10 goals and assisting a further 15 as Manchester City cantered to the Premier League crown this season.

Germany will be looking to defend their World Cup crown this summer after they won the tournament in Brazil four years ago, beating the host nation 7-1 in the semi-finals in the process, however, they would find it much easier to win the tournament if they took their best players. The decision to exclude Leroy Sane from the side is borderline criminal. The youngster has been one of Germany’s best players this season and he’s set to watch his country from home.
Instead of Sane, Joachim Low has opted to take Julian Brandt, Julian Draxler and Marco Reus, who have a combined 30 goals and assists in their domestic leagues, only five more than Sane, despite the fact that they’ve managed 75 league games between them and Sane’s managed his total in just 32 league appearances. If the German’s fall on their faces in Russia, it will only prove the point that Sane’s exclusion was a huge mistake, as many fans had him down as one of the first names to be on the plane.

Absolute joke

SHOCKER. From a purely selfish City point of view that is brilliant news as he needs recovery time over summer especially given his young age & number of games played.

Reus the only pacey attacker in that squad. Good luck with that

Feel for the lad. From a city point of view though it's a summer of rest! Germanys loss and city's gain! #InSane

The hell? This is the PFA young player of the year and arguably the best young player on the planet right now in terms of form. Shocking.
