As reported by The Guardian, Arsenal right-back Hector Bellerin is set to sign a new contract with the club, ensuring our Gunners fans here in the Transfer Tavern are very happy indeed.
The former Barcelona youth player had been linked with a move away in recent weeks but this news appears to have allayed any of those fears the club’s supporters may have had.
He has been a permanent fixture in the Gunners’ team so far this season with them currently two points off of Liverpool at the top of the league after they drew to north London rivals Spurs at the weekend.
Whatever happens this season, though, Bellerin should be around for all of it with his agent Albert Botines confirming in the report that the Spanish international looks set to sign on.
“We are speaking and are now a lot closer than we were two weeks ago. In a normal situation he will sign”, he said.
”Héctor is very happy at Arsenal. This would be the fourth time he has signed a new contract at the club and it is clear he has made good progress.”
The Gunners will play Manchester United at Old Trafford next time out once the international break has been completed.
Since breaking into the first-team almost 18 months ago, the La Roja ace has emerged as one of the most dependable defenders in the league at a time when top quality full-backs are relatively hard to find.
