The Man City fans in the Transfer Tavern have been delighted with the fine form of Yaya Toure this season…
It was widely expected that he would be fazed out of proceedings at the Etihad, with Pep Guardiola often opting to utilise more technically gifted players, rather than the physical presence that Toure provides.
Toure’s position at Man City was thrust into the spotlight following an issue between his agent and Pep Guardiola, and only over the last few months has the Ivorian really been given a chance under Pep.
However, you can’t fault him for trying – with Toure arguably one of the most impressive players in the Man City first team this year. He hasn’t really been a regular as such, but whenever he has played he has performed well – and he certainly deserves credit for that.
However, despite his fine performances, it appears as though the Ivorian is no closer to securing his future at the club, with his agent recently revealing to Tutto Mercato Web that his future will hopefully be decided within the next “30-45 days”.
Interestingly, his agent also refused to rule out a departure, revealing that Italian top flight Serie A would be considered by his client.
Indeed, the next few months will be a particularly important time for Man City for a number of reasons, most notably with regards to their proposed title challenge. At present, Chelsea are running away with the league – and one way that Toure can earn himself a new deal is by dominating the midfield for the Sky Blues.
Toure has made 13 starts in the Premier League so far this season, scoring 4 times.
