Arsenal and Russia playmaker Andrei Arshavin has a very unusual hobby outside of football, as he displays a strange passion for women’s fashion. The former Zenit St Petersburg player may find that current manager Arsene Wenger may not share his love of women’s clothes and that his interest may be better suited to Milan.
Asharvin has a degree in fashion design and has written a thesis on the ‘Development of Sportswear Manufacturing’, through which he designed a suit that can be worn casually and for sport, which doesn’t sound like a great idea to me. I’m not sure that the topic of women’s fashion creates much conversation in the Arsenal dressing room either, but maybe they know a thing or two from European culture.
In some ways his passion for design doesn’t come as a surprise, with his love of art off the pitch suiting his creative style of play on it. Arshavin lists his hobby as creating goals for the team, illustrating how he likes creating things for his teammates, who should probably be worried that Andrei might have some clothes lined up for them as well.
Some of his motives for studying women’s fashion are completely understandable, as he said that he studied women’s fashion at university due to the high amount of women in his class and for that who can blame him?
The 28 year old also seems to spend a lot of his spare time thinking about women, because when he’s not designing clothes for them he’s making chauvinistic comments, saying that he would “introduce a ban on women driving cars and withdraw all their licenses”.
Arshavin himself has admitted that he’s different and has said that he’s “not afraid of going against the grain”, which will probably result in his Arsenal teammates giving him plenty of stick about his unusual interest. I just hope that he doesn’t inflict his singing on them as well.
