Why is it that Spurs seem hellbent on chasing Everton’s South African winger Steven Pienaar?
Speculation surrounding the World Cup star has been rife as his contract crawls ever closer to expiry in the summer with Tottenham emerging as the frontrunners for his signature.
Spurs have been linked to the star for some time and it would seem Harry is ready to offer his out-of-favour midfielder Niko Kranjcar in a swap deal worth roughly £15million.
The News of the World are reporting that Redknapp will offer his Croatian talisman plus £1million for Pienaar’s services. This could be an intriguing prospect for Toffees’ boss David Moyes, who has struggled to reach an agreement with Pienaar over an extension on his contract.
Moyes certainly needs a replacement for Pienaar if the winger decides to leave in January and Kranjcar would fit the bill. The Croatian International has years of Premier League experience and would be a snip considering that Everton would be resigned to losing Pienaar for free in the summer.
However, it is a head scratcher from Harry’s point of view. Spurs are exceptionally comfortable on the wings at the moment with the exceptional form of Gareth Bale and Aaron Lennon making it hard to see where Pienaar could fit in. Furthermore, Everton’s desperation to keep the winger will have increased the player’s wage demands and could stall any deal when agreeing terms.
Pienaar is yet to agree another deal at Goodison and will be hot property for a host of clubs come January. With the contract expiry looming, any offer in excess of £8million should be enough to secure the wingers services.

Doubt Harry is that bothered but Levy may want to sell Bale or Lennon and will look for .
You’re an idiot, Pienaar is available at a reduced rate in January or free at the end of the season on a bosman. Please do your research before wasting our time reading this rhetorical nonsense.
“Speculation surrounding the World Cup star has been rife as his contract crawls ever closer to expiry in the summer with Tottenham emerging as the frontrunners for his signature”
then…
“Moyes certainly needs a replacement for Pienaar if the winger decides to leave in January and Kranjcar would fit the bill. The Croatian International has years of Premier League experience and would be a snip considering that Everton would be resigned to losing Pienaar for free in the summer”

Dave,
I’ve read that and I don’t get what your problem is. Unless you are in fact a whining retard who doesn’t want Pienaar to leave Everton. Click somewhere else in future.
‘Rhetorical’?
Nice word. You should look up what it means before using it next time.
Lol. Well picked up. Never read that post hahahaha
He is also a CM
The problem with this article is… Pienaar is not a winger.
really? any quotes?
This is transfer gossip. Is there ever any quotes?
Brilliant. I’m going to frame this. You absolute tube.
You come on football rumour site and post,’This is transfer gossip’.
Genius.
8 Million in Jan but could go for free in the summer???
Am no mathematician but something dont add up there!
Spurs have never said they ‘want’ the player, that is just the press giving it large to make a story. I have no doubt that ‘Harry’ will bid for some players this Jan and July/Aug but i am sure the papers will once again put him with every Tom Dick and Harry and like the VDV signing it will be where we were not looking but i doubt it will be Pinnar.
We really need to look for two strikers in the Jan window, leave Pina colada until the summer if he wants to move we get him for a bag of crisps. Would prefer Diarra if Spurs are looking for a MF player.
Where did you get the figure of £15m from?
Did you stick your finger in the air and make that up?
The last 2 games have shown we need a number nine ahead of anyone. The amount of times we put the ball in the box against chelsea but failed to even conjure up a shot on target shows where we are really lacking. However, if Pineaar is avaiable, we should get him if the price is right. We dont have any queality back up at the moment if Bale or Lennon are injured and it would also allow Bale to play at left back.
