Arsenal: Club provide negative update on Gabriel Martinelli

Arsenal supporters have thoroughly enjoyed the performances of 19 year-old Gabriel Martinelli this season, but he sadly was injured in June which ruled him out for the rest of the season. Arsenal have provided an update on his injury.

Discussing the Brazilian’s injury, Arsenal have said on their website: “Currently recovering in a knee brace after his operation, which took place during the last week of June. Surgery was successful, with consultants and our medical team very encouraged with Gabi’s current progress at this stage of his recovery.

“Will continue his recovery throughout the close season, with the aim of a return to full training by the end of 2020.”

This will be disappointing news for both the club and supporters, as it was not expected that he would be out until the end of the calendar year. This means that he will therefore miss the start of next season as well as the end of this one, which is a huge blow.

The Brazilian has had a great campaign at the Gunners, scoring ten goals and picking up two assists in all competitions, and managing on average 1.2 shots per game, via WhoScored.

This shows how strong he has been for the club in his debut season, and it also highlights how much potential he has if he is scoring ten goals at the age of 19.

Hopefully when he returns he can continue where he left off, and with goals like the one he scored against Chelsea, supporters of the club should be very excited about his future at the Emirates.
