The latest news has just reached us in the Football Transfer Tavern as The Sun suggest that Arsenal’s deadline day signing Kim Kallstrom could miss up to three months with a back injury.
The Gunners’ new signing apparently picked up the injury playing beach football during Spartak Moscow’s pre-season tour in Abu Dhabi.
The injury was revealed as part of the medical that the 31-year-old had before his loan move from the Russian side and despite Arsene Wenger being informed of the injury before agreeing the transfer, he could still look to cancel the six-month loan agreement according to today’s reports.
The Swedish international is likely to be sidelined for the Gunners’ next five matches, in which they have to face Liverpool twice, Manchester United, Bayern Munich and Sunderland.
Kallstrom will now briefly return to Sweden before coming to London for a course of treatment with the Arsenal staff.
Kallstrom proved to be the Gunners only signing in the winter transfer window as Wegner tried to provide cover in his midfield. But Arsenal supporters in the bar are now questioning the point of the transfer if the midfielder could miss the next 12 weeks through injury?
