Here in the Football Transfer Tavern, the Daily Mail has some fantastic news for Arsenal fans as they claim that the Gunners could well be closing in on Julian Draxler.

The young German starlet has been linked with a move to a top club for a long time and over their game of pool, a couple of our punters note that Draxler has been linked with more Premier League sides in the last year than most players could dream of in a life time.

Now it seems that Arsene Wenger is closing in on his man, with Draxler’s club Schalke even admitting that the player could well leave.

Wenger is well known for developing young stars and our landlord stops serving at the bar to inform us that he thinks a move to North London would be the ideal step forward in the career of Draxler at this point.

The January window has been quiet for most clubs and the most we have heard from Wenger has been when he moaned about the sale of Juan Mata from Chelsea to Manchester United!

Of course the arrival of Draxler would change all that and certainly ruffle some feathers within the rest of the Premier League.
