The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern would love to see a bit of transfer action this month…
Despite an impressive turnaround against Bournemouth earlier this week, many in the Transfer Tavern were disappointed that their side even needed to score 3 to bring it back – with many touting the Gunners for an easy win over the Cherries.
The game, in many ways, summed up Arsenal’s season so far – with moments of brilliance marred by moments of disaster, and so it isn’t surprising that many in the Tavern are clamouring for a new signing or 2.
They might just get their wish, too, with the Daily Star reporting that Arsenal are keen on Porto defender Ricardo Pereira.
Currently on-loan with Nice, Pereira has impressed this season – with the French side performing excellently in Ligue 1 – and that has, seemingly, peaked the interest of Arsene Wenger.
The deal would certainly make sense, given earlier suggestions that Arsenal’s reported primary target Ricardo Rodriguez looks more likely to make a move to Chelsea, with the Blues reportedly beating the Gunners to the punch for the impressive left-back.
Pereira would, undoubtedly, prove to be a decent signing for Wenger – especially given his current form – and his ability to play across the defence will surely become mightily important as the French boss continues to deal with form and injury issues in his back line.
