The summer could have been a very different time for both Arsenal and Liverpool fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern as Alexis Sanchez and Mario Balotelli were linked with both clubs.

With both sides looking for a world class player who could score goals, the Gunners were the ones who ended up rejecting Mario Balotelli and moving for Barcelona player Alexis Sanchez – and their fans are now thanking God for that!

Liverpool spent £16 million on Balotelli, who has failed to impress the manager and the fans and missed the game against the Gunners through suspension.

As our landlord notes, the fact of the matter is that Alexis is the single reason Arsenal are even competing for a place in the top four of the Premier League, whereas Balotelli has become a massive liability at Liverpool!
