Arsenal: Fans beg Unai Emery to start Gabriel Martinelli in Carabao Cup tie

Arsenal fans are begging manager Unai Emery to start Gabriel Martinelli in tonight’s League Cup tie at home to Nottingham Forest.

The Brazilian youngster has yet to start a game for the Gunners this season, making one solitary substitute appearance away to Newcastle United on the opening day of the top-flight (via Transfermarkt).

Martinelli was a summer purchase from Brazilian fourth division side Ituano for a fee believed to be just £6m (via The Telegraph).

Emery has been generous in allowing youth stars a shot in the first-team this campaign. Joe Willock, Emile Smith-Rowe, Reiss Nelson and Bukayo Saka have all made starts in either the Premier League, Europa League or both this season.

It seems fans want Martinelli to be afforded the opportunity tonight as the north London giants take on Championship opposition in the League Cup.
