The excitement surrounding Mikel Arteta’s first month in charge seems to be continuing into how fans are reacting to transfer reports. Indeed, Fox Sports Brazil have said that the Gunners are now in pole position to sign Athletico Paranaense defensive midfielder Bruno Guimarães and supporters are excited to say the least.
The 22-year-old has played 25 times this season for his team who play in Brazil’s top division and he’s even managed to score two goals and bag an assist in that time, too. Furthermore, WhoScored have rated him 7.13/10 for his showings over there, and with reports that Benfica were also interested, it’s clear to see he’s turned a number of scouts’ heads across Europe.
The Gunners obviously brought Gabriel Martinelli to North London over the course of the summer in a similar deal and, given the fact Guimarães is older and playing for perhaps a better established Brazilian club, it seems they are now targetting a deal for a man closer towards the end product, even if he is still a young man.
It’s said in the piece that the president of Athletico Paranaense wants £25m for his signature, and when Arsenal news aggregator LT Arsenal relayed the Fox Sports report to their followers, some fans couldn’t help but reply and show how pleased they are at the possibility of him being an Arsenal player this month.
