Arsenal fans were disagreeing with club legend Paul Merson after he claimed that David Luiz should be made the captain of the club.
Merson was speaking about the ability of the defender and alluded to his winning mentality before saying he should be made captain.
He said: “David Luiz has got to be captain, he’s a serial winner. People have a go at him because one week he’ll be a 2/10 & the next a 9/10, but he’s going to play every week.” (Source: Twitter)
Luiz hasn’t had the greatest of starts to his career in north London, conceding two penalties, against Liverpool and Watford, in his first five Premier League games.
As well as two mistakes, the 32-year-old Brazil international has also formed part of the defence that has conceded 13 goals in the six games he has started for the club (via WhoScored).
The central defender joined Unai Emery’s side for a mere £8m from London and top-flight rivals Chelsea in a shock deadline day deal (via BBC).
Fans weren’t too happy with Merson’s claim about Luiz being captain as they took to Twitter to react.
