It is looking likely to be an exciting and stressful few days for Arsenal fans.
Clock against Arsenal in CB search. Interest in Upamecano is there, but difficult to get a deal that big done in two days, although Leipzig obviously don’t have to get a replacement by Thursday, they have the rest of the month. With Laurent Koscielny on his way to Bordeaux, the hunt for a centre-back has seemingly ramped up for Arsenal, and one name on every fans lips this week is RB Leipzig defender Dayton Upamecano.
BILD reported that the Gunners had a bid turned down for the 20-year-old defender. However, the Evening Standard and Goal both report that Unai Emery’s side will step up their efforts in trying to lure the France youth international to north London.
As expected, news of a rejected bid for Upamecano quickly made the rounds on social media, and the subsequent update that followed was enough to make Arsenal fans confident that the club could pull off another surprise signing this summer.
Here is how some Arsenal supporters reacted on Twitter to the update…

I doubt this is the first time we have made contact with Upamecano. Contact would have been made months ago with Upamecano’s representatives. Don’t doubt Raul, believe in Raul

Don Raul handling negotiations?? WELCOME TO ARSENAL, UPAMECANO!!!

Obviously 70mil is a considerable amount of money but we simply just have to make the investment. Upamecano could easily be partnering Saliba for next 10 years.

If we sign Upamecano, we are winning the league. Don’t @ me.
