Arsenal’s season has been a fairly solid one for Unai Emery, but one issue has threatened to cause him problems at every turn. The manager’s treatment of Mesut Ozil has been seen as smart by some and baffling by others, but one thing is certain – it’s been the biggest topic of Arsenal’s season.
Of course, Ozil is one of Europe’s most recognisable players, and over the years, he’s been one of the Gunners’ most valuable men. However, his form over the last 18 months or so hasn’t been great, and clearly, Emery hasn’t been impressed enough to give him a regular starting berth.
However, he did get a chance on Thursday evening as Arsenal came back against BATE, and it’s fair to say that fans online were very happy to see him in action.

Following the game, Ozil took to Twitter to reflect upon the fixture, and Arsenal supporters were quick to respond in their hundreds. Most of them, it seems, have come with a very similar message, they just want to see more of him. He’s still as popular as ever, that much is clear. Did he do enough to retain his place? That remains to be seen, but a lot of fans would like to see him play this weekend.
