Arsenal fans have been left excited after it was revealed that one of Pep Guardiola’s long-time assistant coaches could join Mikel Arteta’s backroom staff at the Emirates Stadium.
According to Sami Mokbel from the Daily Mail, Domenec Torrent is one of the assistants who could join the 37-year-old’s backroom staff.
Torrent has a wealth of experience under Guardiola and has been with him during most of his managerial journey, assisting him at Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Manchester City.
His career has been hugely successful and has seen him win a mass 24 trophies alongside Guardiola.
However, he departed the coaching staff at The Etihad Stadium in the summer of 2018 as he ventured into a full-time manager’s job at the Blues’ sister club New York City (via BBC).
Fans were left feeling happy with the 56-year-old’s potential appointment as they took to Twitter to react.
Here is a selection of tweets from the north London faithful:
I’m very intrigued to see what’s #MikelArteta’s backroom staff gonna look like. I’m ok with the idea of #DomenecTorrent and #FreddieLjungberg taking the reigns as No.2. So let’s see how this pans out.#Arsenal #AFC #BelieveInArsenal #MA8

Domenec Torrent is manager of New York City. He was Pep’s assistant for many many years. IF he comes with Mikel, that could be massive!!!

This would be 10/10

That would be incredible! Maybe Pep is helping Mikel build a unit for the club he once wanted to play for and manage 😉
