Arsenal fans were left wondering what could have been last night after Cristiano Ronaldo revealed that he was ‘one step’ away from signing for the club.
The Juventus star was giving an interview to Piers Morgan and revealed he was just inches away from signing for Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal at the time.
The former Sporting CP winger ended up signing for Manchester United for a fee believed to be £12.24m (via BBC).
The attacker enjoyed a successful spell in the north-west, winning three consecutive Premier League titles from 2007 to 2009 (via Transfermarkt).
In all, the Portuguese international has won 28 trophies for Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus in a glittering career.
Arsenal fans couldn’t contain their show of emotion last night as they took to Twitter to react to the news from Ronaldo.
