Mesut Ozil has been on a bit of a dry spell in terms of goals and assists recently, not contributing any attacking contributions in nine Premier League games prior to the win over Newcastle United. Still, the playmaker ended that streak on Sunday as he slotted home a cutback from Nicolas Pepe as he put in a brilliant attacking performance.
The German was a creative force in Mikel Arteta’s side as he played the joint-most key passes and was the joint-most fouled player (via WhoScored). He also covered more distance than any of his teammates, bar Granit Xhaka (10.7km), showing his strong work rate on this occasion at least (Sky Sports via DailyAFC).
