Arsenal fans take to Twitter in delight at news of Nicola Barella interest

Arsenal fans are desperate for someone to come in and replace the departing Aaron Ramsey this summer, and it seems that the Gunners may have lined up the perfect man. As their Welsh wizard prepares for life in Italy, it could be the Italian midfielder Nicola Barella coming the other way, as Calcio Mercato have reported, via The Sun.

The Cagliari star has been one gaining plenty of media attention for his performances in Serie A this season, much in the same way that Lucas Torreira did for Sampdoria last season. However, this time around we’re not looking at a defensive midfield terrier, but instead someone who offers the complete midfield package, and the Gunners had a great chance to see the 22-year-old in action on Saturday.

As Italy hosted and beat Finland 2-0, it was the 22-year-old who grabbed his first ever goal for his country in what was just his 5th cap for La Nazionale. At club level this season the youngster has been just as bright as he’s become a staple of Calgiari’s starting eleven, and for those Gunners who have yet to see what all of the fuss is about, they can tune in tomorrow evening to see Barella as Italy take on Liechtenstein in their 2nd UEFA Euro qualifier.
