Arsenal fans take to Twitter to call against a move for Antonio Valencia

Arsenal fans have mostly enjoyed this season under Unai Emery. Wins over Tottenham, Chelsea and Manchester United in the Premier League have been high points and last summer’s recruitment went down really well. However, the Spaniard could be set to undo some of that hard work if these transfer rumours are true and he signs Antonio Valencia.

Whilst at the moment these rumours are just that, The Sun has claimed that a move for Valencia is increasingly likely seeing as the 33-year-old’s Manchester Unitec contract won’t be extended. The two-time Premier League winner and Manchester United captain has enjoyed an impressive career at Old Trafford, but all good things must come to an end, and Arsenal is a potential destination for him.

At the age of 33, it really is hard to see what bringing in Valencia would achieve for the Gunners. Emery’s only miss last summer was that of Stephan Lichtsteiner. The Swiss right-back has proved off the pace, likely because of his age, and bringing in the Old Trafford man has a similar feel about it to the signing of the ex-Juventus man, which is exactly why the Gunners are keen to avoid the move.

The Gunners are far from pleased to see themselves linked with Valencia and will be desperate to avoid the Ecuadorian’s signature when the summer comes around.
