Metro have Chelsea fans looking rather shocked here in the Football Transfer Tavern as Jose Mourinho claims he nearly signed an Arsenal legend, losing out by an ‘inch’.

The player in question is Thierry Henry who Mourinho nearly netted during his time at Barcelona but saw the forward opt for Juventus from Monaco instead.

As Mourinho rightly notes, once Henry joined Arsenal and went about becoming a legend for the Gunners, a deal was not going to be on the table and our regulars certainly have to agree with that one!

Henry of course went on to become one of the greatest ever forwards to grace the Premier League and according to our landlord, he is the greatest ever striker – and most of our regulars would be hard pressed to disagree.

Arsenal have never quite hit the heights of the Henry days and their fans in the tavern are praying that one day they can actually replicate their success or even half of it.

They think that despite the Frenchman joining Sky Sports, a coaching job with the Gunners could one day be on the cards!
