Arsenal may have spent big on defensive talent over the summer, but it would appear that Arsene Wenger is far from finished.
According to the Sun, Arsenal are set to join Man Utd in the chase for Atletico Madrid starlet Jose Gimenez.
They add that Wenger has concerns over the longevity of both Gabriel and Mertesacker – and the Gunners seemingly feel that Gimenez would be a perfect replacement.
Any deal will be a tough one, though, as according to the Mirror – Man Utd are also particularly keen on the Uruguyan, with Jose Mourinho making him his number 1 target.
Gimenez has not featured very often for Atletico Madrid yet this season, given that he suffered an injury in September.
Our landlord thinks that at just 21-years-old, £50+ million is a lot to be spending; but it would appear that Gimenez has all the talent to make it to the top.
The Arsenal fans are dreaming of a defence that includes both Gimenez and Mustafi.
