Alexis Sanchez has proven to be one of Arsene Wenger’s shrewdest acquisitions in recent years, so it will come as no surprise to learn that the Frenchman is in the process of seeking his heir apparent.
According to the Sun, Arsenal are keen on Chilean midfielder Marcelo Allende – who has drawn comparisons with Alexis Sanchez, not least because of the similarities they share with each other for their early career platform.
Allende started at the same club as Sanchez, Ports Santa Cruz – and whilst he did partake in a trial at the Emirates – he now plays for Chilean side Cobreloa.
Not quite the same career path as Sanchez – but Allende still retains his dreams of playing at the highest level like his hero.
The Arsenal fans in the Football Transfer Tavern aren’t too aware of him; but they think that the comparisons being drawn between Sanchez and Allende bode well for the future.
Allende is currently turning out for Chile under-17’s as he looks to rise through the ranks.
