Arsenal plotting summer swoop for 24-year-old to solve their defensive problems

“We need a new defender”, is what we keep hearing from the Arsenal fans here in the Transfer Tavern.

Defenders certainly will be on Arsene Wenger’s summer transfer wishlist if he stays in the job beyond the end of the season.

Virgil Van Dijk is a name that has been touted but another target has emerged.

According to The Sunday Mirror, reported via the talkSport gossip page, Jeison Murillo is on Arsenal’s radar.

The Inter Milan centre back is highly rated and Arsenal are looking to add another defender to complete their transition to a back three.

The 24-year-old fits the bill as he continues to impress in Serie A.

The Colombian international has played over 50 times in the league for Inter Milan now and has also spent time with Udinese, Granada, Cadiz and Las Palmas previously.

With 25 international caps to his name already, the young defender is certainly one to keep your eyes on.

Murillo is in high demand this summer and Inter Milan are keen for him to sign a new deal.

However, Arsenal could try to lure him to the Premier League to bolster their defensive options and his speed and strength suits the new style of play that Wenger is trying to implement.
