Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus is ‘fine’ after picking up a head injury in the 3-2 win over Liverpool on Sunday, according to BBC reporter Alex Howell.

The Lowdown: Jesus injured in win

The Gunners saw off the Reds in a thrilling Premier League clash at the Emirates over the weekend as they returned to the top of the table.

Jesus arguably had one of his quieter games of the season, however, and he suffered what looked like a worrying head injury during the second half of proceedings.

Fortunately, the Brazilian was able to carry on after seemingly being knocked out by Kostas Tsimikas, and he was eventually substituted in stoppage time as a tactical decision.

The Latest: No concussion

Writing on Twitter on Monday, Howell confirmed that the concussion protocols were conducted on the pitch, adding that there is no issue with Jesus fitness-wise:

“On Gabriel Jesus and his head injury yesterday. I’m told he completed the concussion protocol on the pitch before he came back on. He is fine today and has been checked by the doctor.”

The Verdict: Big boost

This is hugely positive news from an Arsenal perspective, with Jesus proving to be a talismanic figure since joining from Manchester City in the summer.

The Brazil international, who has been described as ‘world-class’ by former teammate Ilkay Gundogan, has improved everyone around him with his pressing and link-up play, also scoring five league goals for good measure.

If Arsenal are to mount a genuine title challenge this season, Jesus staying fit feels absolutely vital, with a long-term injury having the potential to derail their charge, such is his influence on the attackers around him.
