Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger may be disappointed at the news that Julian Draxler is set to snub a move to the club but according to The Guardian there is light at the end of the tunnel for the manager regarding at least one of his transfer targets this summer.
Arsenal have made no secret of the fact that they are in the hunt for a goalkeeper this summer and it seems that after falling short in convincing Victor Valdes and indeed Iker Casillas that they should ditch their clubs and join him at the Emirates Stadium, it seems that Julio Cesar could well be set to join the club as soon as the transfer window opens.
Queens Park Rangers have made it clear that one of Wenger’s top targets would be allowed to leave this summer for around £5 million after the club dropped into the Championship and given the fact that the decorated keeper would like to stay in London, Wenger could well land a top keeper for an amount that certainly would not break the bank and allow him to focus on landing his other targets to boot.
Harry Redknapp claimed that: “I think Júlio is a player for a top club, a top Italian team, a top Spanish team or a top Premier League team. He is good enough to play anywhere.”
As one of our punters quips, it is clear that Wenger agrees and smart money is on the Brazilian to become Arsenal’s new number one.
