The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are fearing the worst this season…
Their summer has been far from ideal, with Alexandre Lacazette the only big name brought to the Emirates, whilst their start to the season has been characterised by poor performances and disappointment.
Arsene Wenger, though, clearly wants to turn it around, and he could reportedly look towards 23-year-old Julian Draxler as a result. According to the Mirror, Arsenal are keen to secure a deal for Draxler today in an effort to improve their fortunes – with PSG reportedly open to selling the midfielder.
Significantly, a deal for Draxler could also have massive implications for Man City – with the report also noting that the departure of Alexis Sanchez could rest upon the arrival of the German.
Draxler has looked good since moving to PSG, but he is a victim of circumstance – in that his place in the team is no longer guaranteed following the arrival of Neymar.
He’s one of Europe’s most talented players, and as a widely recognisable name, he would certainly please the fans in the Transfer Tavern.
Still, a last ditch deal will be hard to come by, and so Wenger and co must move quickly.
Landlord’s Verdict
This move would be massive for Arsenal.
Draxler is one of Europe’s best players, and whilst the Gunners have struggled to recruit this summer, his arrival would undoubtedly put a smile on the faces of the Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern.
An attacking midfielder, his signing would also ease the pain of a potential Alexis Sanchez exit – with the Chilean linked with a move to Man City.
