Arsenal target hints at summer switch?

benteke.jpgAston Villa fans inside the Football Transfer Tavern have found themselves sweating on the future of top goalscorer Christian Benteke, and Graham Hill of The Sun believes they have good reason to.

The Belgian who scored an impressive 19 goals to keep Villa in the Premier League  has insisted the Midlands club have no say in where his future lies, and he will seek a move if he feels it will benefit his career.

Benteke, 22, said: “If Aston Villa say I must stay, I won’t necessarily accept that. I do not in any way want to feel I didn’t get the most out of my career. I try to get everything.”

Benteke was a shrewd £7 million signing from Belgian club Genk last summer, and went on to be one of the Premier League’s stars of the season.

He managed 23 goals in all competitions, and his words have attracted the attention of Manchester City, Tottenham, Arsenal and Chelsea.

Benteke, on international duty in the USA, said: “Of course playing the World Cup in Rio is in my head. But I have no fear of falling out of the team. There is no point in me getting into a tug-of-war with Villa.

“If the chance comes up for me to join a club like Arsenal, I’m convinced we can reach a compromise where everyone comes out a winner.”

With Benteke’s future up in the air, do you think he’ll be at Villa Park for the start of 2013/14? Let us know your thoughts below.
