There are excited faces here in the Football Transfer Tavern as it is claimed by Caught Offside that Arsenal could be about to land one of their summer targets after Valencia admitted they would sell Adil Rami.
The French international defender has been on Arsene Wenger’s radar for some time now and has been a rock at the heart of the Valencia defence.
Rami possesses all the qualities that Wenger desires in his centre backs. The physicality of the defender and his skills on the ball and dominance in the air have made him a firm favourite of the Frenchman and it is thought Wenger is willing to make a summer bid for the player.
Valencia, whilst not keen to see the player leave are willing to sell him for the right price which is thought to be around £12.5 million – the Spanish side would then look to reinvest the money in a replacement for the defender and add to their own squad. Rami for his part is keen to secure a move away from the La Liga side to what he feels is a bigger club with better prospects.
