Deadline day is all about the audacious last minute deals in the Football Transfer Tavern and today is no different as reports emerged that Arsenal were planning a last ditch loan move for Lille midfielder Salomon Kalou.
However Hannah Duncan from Metro has now arrived in the bar to dismiss these reports, confirming that the offer for the former Chelsea man has already been rejected.
The 28-year-old was understood to have become a late target for Arsene Wenger as he tries desperately to strengthen his squad before the deadline.
It has been a frustrating day so far for the Gunners punters in the bar with no transfers confirmed at Emirates Stadium, although Sweden veteran Kim Kallstrom is thought to be very close to sealing a loan move to North London.
However any hopes of landing the Chelsea man have now been ended after his club Lille blocked the transfer as they could not find a suitable replacement with only hours remaining.
The Ivory Coast international was thought to be interested in returning to England, where he spent six successful years at Stamford Bridge, but it now looks that Wenger will have to reconsider his options if he wants to sign a centre-forward before 11pm tonight.
