Many Aston Villa fans have reacted to a comment made by Dean Smith over the possibility of Bjorn Engels returning before the end of the season.
With the 2019/20 season reaching the final few games, Villa find themselves involved in a relegation battle along with the likes of West Ham United, Bournemouth and Watford, with Smith’s team currently in the bottom three.
One player who has been absent from Villa’s final few games is Engels, with the Belgian having struggled with an injury to his Achilles, which he suffered during the lockdown. Smith has revealed that the 25-year-old will miss the remainder of the season, speaking to Birmingham Live about a number of club matters.
Following that update from Smith, many Villa fans have taken to Twitter to share their opinion on the defender’s absence, with some discussing his earlier season performances.
Him & Mings were decent at start of season, pity. Hopefully not the end of him at Villa, there’s a good player there…

He’ll come good, still young(ish) and will learn a lot if we are to be relegated

However, some fans seemed to think that it could be the end of Engels’ time at Villa, believing that he could move on in the summer transfer window.
Hope it’s only an injury

That’s him off then, disappointing to say the least.
Looked a good pairing with Mings.— Will Chisholm (@Billy_Chisholm) July 15, 2020
