Aston Villa secured their third win of the 2019/20 Premier League campaign on Saturday with a 2-1 victory against Brighton & Hove Albion (via BBC Sport).
The afternoon didn’t start well for the Villans, as Adam Webster put the Seagulls ahead. But after Aaron Mooy was sent off for the visitors, goals from Jack Grealish and Matt Targett in stoppage time of each half secured all three points for Dean Smith’s men.
The star of the show at Villa Park was undoubtedly Grealish. Indeed as well as his goal he also provided the assist for Targett’s winner, completed six key passes and five successful dribbles and finished the game with a rating of 9.29 (via WhoScored).
Grealish has really arrived in the Premier League now after a slow start to the season. He has scored two goals and provided two assists in his last four league outings, significantly better than the single assist he managed in the first five (via WhoScored).
He will be pleased with his afternoons work, particularly as England boss Gareth Southgate was there to witness his magnificent display.
After his performance against Brighton he was being heavily praised by most Villa supporters, with plenty of them agreeing that the 24-year-old was the best player on the pitch.
