Speaking to Aston Villa’s official website ahead of the final third of their Premier League season, manager Dean Smith has proclaimed that ‘we can beat any team on our day‘ – resulting in a wave of supporters attacking the gaffer for his verdict.
Smith, who guided the Villans to promotion last season, overcoming Derby County 2-1 in a memorable play-off final at Wembley, now finds himself trying to avoid the clutches of relegation straight back down to the Championship – with numerous challenging fixtures awaiting for his side. Villa face Chelsea at home on Saturday, host Wolves a fortnight later and travel to Premier League table-toppers Liverpool over a month that could make or break their season.
The Villans currently find themselves languishing in 19th, having lost three out of their last five games as well as unluckily missing out on the Carabao Cup. However, Smith seems to be feeling positive, with supporters going on to blast his ‘delusional‘ notion that Villa can beat anyone on their day.
One supporter even labelled it as ‘patronising rubbish‘ – find all of their best comments down below.

“We can beat any team on our day…”
Sorry, but that’s utterly delusional. #avfc— Paul Edwards (@TheRealPaulE) March 8, 2020
Sorry but talk is cheap,I’m genuinely not to interested in what Smith has to say as it’s been the same week after week,my only interest now is the side he picks & how we perform on the pitch,no more excuses. #UTFV!
