Plenty of Aston Villa fans have not taken kindly to the club being linked with Hertha Berlin striker Davie Selke, as tweeted by @villareport.

German media outlet Bild reported that the 25-year-old is eager to quit the Bundesliga club and he has attracted interest from a number of Premier League sides, including the Villa Park outfit. His desire to leave the German capital comes off the back of Hertha Berlin signing Krzysztof Piatek, who earlier this month had been linked with a move to Tottenham (as per The Guardian) before departing AC Milan for the Olympiastadion.
Selke has been in and out of Hertha Berlin’s line-up this season and has not been prolific for the club, with just one goal to his name from 21 appearances and 1,015 minutes of game-time. His record last season was not much better, with four goals in 32 games and 1,850 minutes on the pitch. By way of comparison, Aston Villa’s top-scoring centre-forward Wesley has six goals from 1,807 minutes of action this season, while Jonathan Kodjia has scored twice despite playing just 314 minutes (as per TransferMarkt).
These Villa fans on Twitter seem rather unimpressed by Selke, with one likening him to Libor Kozak, who scored just four times in 22 games for the club:
Only reason we’re being linked with him is cuz piatek who we were linked with previously is signing for them. Goal scoring record average at best

Appreciate we haven’t got £150m to spend but 1in4 rate and looks a bit of a Kozak type. #avfc

Aston Villa fans, what do you make of the club being linked with Selke? Do you think he would be an improvement on Dean Smith’s current centre-forward options? Comment below with your views!
