With no indication of their financial situation getting better any time soon, Aston Villa continue to explore the cheapest of options to try and improve their squad.
And one player that fits the mould is Southampton striker Sam Gallagher, who is valued at £2.7m by Transfermarkt.
According to the Birmingham Mail, Steve Bruce is a long-term admirer of the 22-year-old and will look to bring him in as he attempts to reinforce the team’s attack.
Gallagher spent last season out on loan at Villa’s rivals Birmingham City where he scored six goals in 33 Championship appearances.
Gallagher’s ratio of a goal every five-and-half games, though, is hardly likely to get Villa supporters off their feet and understandably so.
Bruce is better off investing time into one of his current crop of youth strikers such as Rushian Hepburn-Murphy if a player with Gallagher’s goalscoring record is the best the club can do in this current transfer window.
Take a look at what Villa fans have had to say on Gallagher here…

Is this guy really any better than Keinan?

Bruce off developing other clubs players again. This guy isnt up to much otherwise he would surely be pushing for a start at Southampton. Lets give RHM and Davis a proper chance this year.
