Despite his lengthy past with cross-city rivals Birmingham, the former Manchester United skipper is a hugely respected figure at Championship level and seems like exactly the sort of man you’d want to make your side competitive in the second tier.
Having spent big money over the course of the summer, there’s little doubt the fallen Midlands giants have the financial backing to make it back to the proverbial Promised Land, it’s just getting things right on the pitch.
So, a photo tweeted by Portugal-based football journalist Tom Kundert suggesting the club had scouts in attendance at a CHAMPIONS LEAGUE fixture have had the Villains dancing on the pool tables once more.

Though it’s not clear as to who officials were running the rule over, it’s clear that Villa joined the likes of Sunderland, Middlesborough and West Bromwich Albion in keeping an eye of talents during Benfica’s clash with Dynamo Kiev.
